Belief Is Magic
I still haven't felt much like doing artwork, but the first knee is healing well. I will be getting set up for the other knee surgery soon. So, I don't know how much new art will be posted here. However, I have finished this piece - "Paisley" - just a design piece to doodle with.
It has been a long time since I blogged - thought I should make an attempt. Back in late November 2022, I had knee replacement surgery on my right leg. I'm still in recovery and really not in the mood to paint. I will need to have the other knee done as soon as the other is healed. It's hard to concentrate when you hurt. I AM working on the Global Art Project posters for this year. We shall see how things go...
You may remember I did the Global Art Project again this spring and sent art to my partner in Germany. I didn't hear back from her, so I assumed she blew me off and I forgot about it. Well, a couple of days ago I received art from her. This is a copy of the photo she sent with her art and holding the art I sent her. Her name is Christine. This years' experience was really rewarding, even if we don't continue to communicate.
New experimental art. About a month ago, one of the art league members gave a demonstration on frame-less watercolor. The idea is to attach a finished painting to a "cradleboard" with heavy body clear acrylic medium - trim off the excess around the edges and let it dry. The next step is to carefully rub a wax medium onto the surface - gently rubbing to an even low gloss. From there you can paint the edges and wire the painting on the back.
I wanted to try this on a smallish piece of art. This is the finished watercolor. I will update when I finish the mounting. I haven't done a watercolor for ages. Primarily, because of the cost of the matt, the frame and the glass on traditionally displayed watercolor.
"AuberGine" (Yes, that is also the name of one shade of purple - word play.) The inspiration for this started with a photo of the face; which yes, I have changed to avoid legal problems.
This painting is based on a real creature - an Armadillo Lizard from South Africa. I just thought it looked too much like a dragon. BTW, the little guy is only about the size of your palm.

I've been spending a lot of time updating and reorganizing my online ZAZZLE store. This company takes your artwork and will print it on all sorts of items, to include posters and canvasses. I still have a lot more to add, but this is a good start. Maggie Huft: on Zazzle
Yes, it's that time again - and with the current world situation, it couldn't be more appropriate. Even though I don't have an assigned partner yet; I am finished with my contribution and am posting early.
It took two months, but it is finally finished. It is not entirely what was in my head; but I'm not unpleased. That fits the concept. It's the idea of reaching out into the universe and pulling an idea into oneself. Maybe it makes in all the way into consciousness - sometimes not.

I decided to move my website to GoDaddy. This site is a lot cleaner than the old one, and much easier to upgrade. It took a couple of days to get it organized; and I will definitely need to make adjustments - but it is up and running.
