Something a little different

This one is called "Electric Butterfly" - and yes, it does contain a lot of special effects acrylic paint that doesn't really show up in the photo.  I wanted to try something totally different than my usual work.  (24" X 30")

Oh, and then there is my Christmas card design for this year - this in watercolor and closer to 8.5" X 11".

Newest Acrylic

Yes. I know, it's been a while.
"My Kitchen Window"

A lot has been going on these last two months.  My art group participated in the annual arts fair in our town; and since I was the President this year, I was pretty involved.  I won't go into great detail here; but suffice it to say, it's a LOT of work.  To make matters worse, the first day we had a downpour which meant a lot of scrambling around, cut down on the display time and made for a lot fewer sales.
Last month was handling the group financials (because the Treasurer was ill).  That's all finished now -- and at the fall business meeting, we installed the new board members.
So now, after fall garden clean-up at home, maybe I can find more time to actually paint.

Back to watercolor...

...at least for a little while.  I wanted to try something different - fantasy subjects that I've done in the past - with iridescent pigments mixed in - AND part of the image cut out and lifted out over the matt.  I don't usually upload posts showing the frame; but in this case, I wanted to show the whole effect.  And yes, those are real shells.

As a side note...

I do have an acrylic in-process and a couple of new ideas to start after that; however I wanted to post this JPG.  I have an extensive background in computer graphics and wanted to display this old black and white that I've colorized - a photo of my Mom when she was in high school circa 1930.  Fun project!

It's Been a While...

Finally! A new piece.  Lots of distractions in my life lately.
The "glow" around the lamps is done in iridescent gold.  It makes for an interesting effect as you walk past the canvas and in different lights.  Sometimes the glow is bright and sometimes it disappears almost entirely.  The tallest lamp is an antique one that use to be my mother's.  I even remember her using it during power outages.

Extra large project

I haven't painted this size for a while - 23" X 36".  It's a re-purposed canvas - trust me, what was on there before wasn't worth keeping.  Once again, this is specialty acrylics with glitter and interference colors.  The aim was to work with special lighting effects.  I must love a challenge...

First new art for the year

I DO have others started.  This is just the first one to be completed for the year.  I'm going to have to make prints; as my husband doesn't want the original to "leave the house".
